Highly acclaimed as a leading industry innovator and creative visionary, Jorge Yant’s unique leadership has guided PLEXIS Healthcare Systems since its founding in 1996. Mr. Yant’s expertise in developing key partnerships, and his experience directing the design, development, and deployment of information technology systems for the healthcare industry have resulted in PLEXIS’ continued growth in the U.S. and abroad.
Based in the Pacific Northwest, PLEXIS is recognized as one of the nation’s fastest growing healthcare technology companies. Mr. Yant is the founder of several successful technology businesses and a former CIO of one of the largest law firms in the country, Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe; Consultant with Price Waterhouse; and Director of Administration at U.C. Berkeley law school.
Mr. Yant was appointed to the Oregon Health Policy Commission by Governor Ted Kulongoski in 2004 and has delivered speeches to a wide range of executive, business, and health industry audiences. Mr. Yant holds a Master’s of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico.
Sean Garrett oversees PLEXIS Healthcare Systems’ operational business units, including product and market strategy, customer delivery and support, and product development. This includes responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of PLEXIS, including organizational growth, and integration and execution of strategic plans with tactical operations. Mr. Garrett oversees the structuring and operation of cohesive teams, day-to-day management of simultaneous projects, process improvement initiatives, and innovative solutions to foster departmental efficiencies and quality. Mr. Garrett’s experience working with PLEXIS’ diverse client base for over a decade supports his role in helping validate market need and acceptance of new product and feature development, and helps to facilitate prioritization and developmental approach ensuring that PLEXIS products continue to fulfill market demand for evolving technology, architecture, and feature/functionality.
Mr. Garrett helps facilitate and manage the development of strategic partner relationships for PLEXIS, which are targeted to provide our clients greater value by promoting complementary products and services to PLEXIS’ core offerings. A valuable team member with PLEXIS since 1998, Mr. Garrett originally served as the company’s Vice President of Operations where he headed up implementation services, product technical support, and information technology. Prior to his current position, Mr. Garrett served as PLEXIS’ Chief Product Strategy Officer, and prior to that as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, where he directed day-to-day and strategic management of PLEXIS’ sales, product management, and marketing department activities. Mr. Garrett is a member of HIMSS International and MS-HUG (Microsoft Healthcare Users Group).
Terri Coppersmith brings more than 20 years of experience to her position as Vice President of Finance. Mrs. Coppersmith is responsible for finance, corporate assets, and budgetary guidance. Prior to joining PLEXIS, Mrs. Coppersmith was Vice President of Western Energy Institute in Portland, Oregon, where she worked since 1992.
Mrs. Coppersmith is also a member of the State Board of Certified Public Accountants of Louisiana, holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in accounting from the University of New Orleans, and graduated from the Institute for Organization Management at the University of Arizona.
Pete Escobar manages and oversees the Product Development department at PLEXIS Healthcare Systems, including architecture, software development, design, quality assurance, information technology, product documentation, and strategic partner alliance/collaborative development delivery. He is responsible for development to support all accounts across PLEXIS. Leading the Product Development department, Mr. Escobar is also responsible for overseeing strategic partner collaborative development efforts, implementation of process improvements, and best practices.
Mr. Escobar has extensive industry-leading experience with over 20 years in Information Technology leadership including software development, customer delivery, corporate transformations, process improvements, information security, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, strategic development, international business, and regulatory compliance. Mr. Escobar has worked in multiple industries including software development, telecommunications, consulting, finance, bio-technology, and energy. Working in multiple roles he has protected tens of billions of dollars in corporate assets, optimized budgets with hundreds of millions of dollars, impacted tens of thousands of employees, directly changed the working processes for thousands of employees, and enhanced processes serving millions of customers. Formerly, Mr. Escobar has worked with companies such as Citigroup, MasterCard, Ameren, Monsanto, and Comverse Network Systems. His credentials include a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, an MBA from Washington University, Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified by Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), as well as various process certifications.
Mr. Vargo has more than 20 years of experience in the health care industry and is one of the founding partners of Vargo Consultants, LLC. His areas of expertise include sales strategy and execution, business development, new business formation, government agency procurements, and first / second stage business growth. Before founding the firm in 2007, Mr. Vargo was the Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Bloodhound Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of claims editing services to health care payers. In this role, he was responsible for all of Bloodhound’s sales in the state and federal government space as well as the development and expansion of critical strategic business partnerships. Mr. Vargo successfully secured contracts with some of the largest commercial payers and government agencies in the United States for Bloodhound. During his eight years with Bloodhound, the division he established and led accounted for at least 80% of the overall company revenues each and every year.
Prior to his employment at Bloodhound, Mr. Vargo founded Diagnostic Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of onsite corporate wellness programs in the Southeast. For five years, Mr. Vargo grew the business at a minimum of 50% per annum and sold the company in 1998 for twenty times the original investment. Mr. Vargo has also held the title of Executive Director of Humana Health Care Plans of Tennessee, a 12,000 member PPO, and he was Associate Executive Director / Chief Operating Officer of Humana Hospital East Ridge, a 150 bed acute care facility. Mr. Vargo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Lycoming College and a Master’s in Health Care Administration from Cornell University. Mr. Vargo has also been a keynote speaker and presenter at several national health care conferences.
Matt Stenson’s primary responsibilities include directing new client implementations and managing implementation partner relationships. Mr. Stenson previously served as PLEXIS’ Senior Project Manager, where he directed several successful client implementations and gained expert knowledge in healthcare information systems. Prior to joining PLEXIS, Mr. Stenson was Vice President of Global Consulting Services for Manugistics, an enterprise software company focusing on pricing and revenue management systems.
His previous experience includes account management, project management, and business analysis roles in consulting and software organizations, as well as a research engineer for General Electric. Mr. Stenson holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ohio University.
Mr. Jimmerson is a performance-driven marketing technologist with over 10 years of experience empowering enterprise and disruptive startup organizations to achieve explosive growth, pervasive brand equity, and sustainable ROI year-over-year. Dan specializes in complex, enterprise technology across healthcare and state and local government.
Prior to joining PLEXIS, Mr. Jimmerson worked in Health and Human Services tech and singlehandedly designed, implemented, and executed the lead generation and nurturing programs that led to 6x in sales revenue in 2 years. Additionally, Mr. Jimmerson spearheaded business development across multiple partner channels with a primary focus on Microsoft – resulting in three prestigious Microsoft awards in two years (ISV partner of the year, Public Sector partner of the year, and Health and Human Service partner of the year).
Mr. Jimmerson has extensive experience in startup communities and is passionate about MarTech, funnel mechanics, CRO, and user experiences. Back in Mr. Jimmerson’s hay day, he opened and operated two successful coffee shops that are still ‘hip’ and successful.
Aly Hollewijn’s key responsibilities include the oversight of Human Resources, Office Services, Strategic Community Outreach, Facilities, and Employee Wellness. Prior to her current role, Aly has worked within many facets at PLEXIS at all different levels. Starting within the admin team to eventually leading all wellness and HR initiatives. The goal of each department under the Administration umbrella is to focus on the best ways to provide a healthy, productive, and a versatile work environment to help allow our employees to produce world class software.
Mrs. Hollewijn is currently leading the charge of forming strategic relationships with local, regional and national health systems, providers, and health alliances. The goal of these relationships is to help form roundtable discussions and interactions that will spark innovation and synergy within the healthcare community. With the quick and ever changing trends happening in the healthcare industry, Mrs. Hollewijn is continuing to help educate on how technology can help these changing trends be as agile as possible.
As the founder’s daughter, Mrs. Hollewijn has had a strong passion for technology and the healthcare industry as a whole. Watching and being involved with the business from the start in a garage to now establishing clients worldwide, she strives to continue developing PLEXIS from the inside out. Mrs. Hollewijn studied Business Administration with a focus in Business Law and Human Resources.
Part of the PLEXIS family starting in 2010, Chris Hollewijn has managed and overseen the steady growth and advancement of the sales support staff since 2014. His team is responsible for a variety of functions critical to the software sales process, including platform solution demonstrations, lead and funnel management, RFP coordination and response, and client account management.
In an operational capacity, he has been challenged to maintain operational efficiency and streamline standard operating procedures. In order to successfully achieve this he has lead internal infrastructure and technological tools buildout and streamlined processes, while keeping an eye to other aspects of business process maturation and inter-departmental collaboration, which have helped PLEXIS continue its pursuit of being an industry leader.
Mr. Hollewijn is also responsible for managing strategic relationships, and works closely with vendor partners to expand PLEXIS’ capabilities, offerings, and overall footprint in the market place.
Mr. Hollewijn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Montana State University.
Mr. Simon joined PLEXIS in April 2016 and brings 25 years of IT experience to his new role. His expertise lies in the areas of Quality Assurance, Business Intelligence (Data Governance, Data Quality, and Analytics), Testing (corporate and government compliance) and Operations Support. His team is responsible for quality assurance and core product development. Mr. Simon has a passion for process improvement and enjoys coaching and mentoring staff.
Prior to joining PLEXIS, Mr. Simon held a number of positions in the IT industry. Most recently, he was a consultant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, helping clients develop a robust testing framework for Payer and Provider systems. He also managed the Business Intelligence/Business Analytics areas within Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan, and lead the Michigan effort for creating a national data warehouse.
Mr. Simon holds Bachelor degrees in Statistics and Mathematics from Oklahoma State University and a Master’s in Mathematics Education from Wayne State University, Detroit.
Mr. Cross’s responsibilities include managing the PLEXIS Client Support department. He has over eight years’ experience in information technology, specializing in systems and database administration.
In his previous three years with PLEXIS, he served as Developer for the Technical Support team. Assisting a wide array of PLEXIS clients with coding, database, and system issues. Mr. Cross emphasize continued learning, effective communication, and the importance of collaboration.
Prior to joining PLEXIS, Mr. Cross worked at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, one of the nation’s oldest and largest repertory theaters, for four years as a Systems Engineer. He attended the University of Oregon where he studied Philosophy.
A PLEXIS business development leader specializing in benefit administration systems since 1996, Mr. Hammond’s extensive healthcare payer industry experience and sales leadership has continued to drive PLEXIS’ rapid expansion into major commercial and government healthcare markets nationally and overseas. He has experience specializing in the world of healthcare payer, insurance, and benefit administration.
Mr. Hammond has over 13 years experience selling payer-specific systems to commercial health plans, managed care organizations, self-funded entities, specialty networks, and third party administrators, as well as extensive experience working with large systems integrators and prime contractors in winning State and Federal bids. One of his specialties is selling internationally, creating new accounts in the United States, many Caribbean nations, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. He is also well-versed in working with C-Level executives in small and large commercial entities as well as government (county, state, and federal) organizations to help foster relationships and encourage growth.
Mr. Hammond holds a BS in Health Promotion and Fitness Management, a BA in Sales and Marketing, and he has a background in physical therapy. Mr. Hammond has been with PLEXIS since 1998.
Mr. Mas has over 10 years of experience in the health insurance industry, with a focus on the international travel medical and individual / group major medical markets. His areas of expertise include business development, relationship building and business growth strategy + implementation.
Before joining PLEXIS, Mr. Mas held a number of positions at HCC Medical Insurance Services, starting as an Account Executive in the Sales Department. He was promoted through the years, eventually becoming Director of the International Business Unit of HCC. HCC experienced consistent growth year over year during Mr. Mas’ tenure with the company; up to 25% growth in his final year with the organization. His international medical insurance experience transitioned into Latin American markets as Head of Corporate Sales for Bupa Global Latin America (BGLA) in Miami, FL. At Bupa, Mr. Mas led business development for the international employee benefits division and oversaw Corporate Sales for BGLA in the Caribbean and Latin America, including 6 regional offices and teams throughout the territory.
Mr. Mas joined the PLEXIS team in January, 2016 with plans to help PLEXIS further expand its reach in the Eastern United States and internationally throughout the Latin American region. Mr. Mas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI).
